We are seeking a Group Respite Coordinator. Would you like to have fun, socialize, and engage in activities, both in-house and in the community with a group of individuals of various ages and abilities? If so, the Group Respite Coordinator might be a great career opportunity! The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and organized individual who wants to play a key role in fulfilling our mission of making a difference in the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. This will be accomplished by developing, coordinating, and evaluating recreational/leisure group respite activities that take place in the evenings and on weekends.

The qualified candidate has:

  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Proven supervisory experience with an emphasis on teamwork
  • A basic working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Prior experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, brain injury, and mental health diagnoses
  • A bachelor’s degree with experience in a human service related field preferred. Recreation therapy background and experience planning group events is a plus. 

This is a great opportunity to obtain full-time employment with The Arc of East Central Iowa while gaining experience in the disability field. This position is a full-time, benefit eligible position. The work schedule is Thursday through Monday 12:00 – 8:30 pm with some flexibility.
